posted in: Senior Spotlight

Truc is originally from Dalat, Vietnam–located in the central part of the country. The Vietnam War was happening during his youth and early adulthood. At the age of 20, he was drafted and served as a military officer for the South Vietnamese Navy. Over the next few years, he experienced many of the unfortunate realities of the conflict before leaving for a new start in Thailand.

From Thailand, Truc headed to the Pacific Northwest in 1980 and has lived here ever since. Upon arriving here, he quickly enrolled at Highline Community College for classes in career development and English which is where he met his lovely wife, Hong! He began working at the US Postal Service and was there for 29+ years before retiring.

Truc and Hong have been coming to the South Park Senior Center since 2019 and are very regular attendees of the dinner and activities held throughout the week. You might catch him dancing on Monday, playing bingo/Loteria on Wednesday or impressing Friday night attendees with his Karaoke skills! He loves making new friends and appreciates the community, connection, and opportunity to learn about cultures and lifestyles different from his own through the various programs and culture spotlights that SPSC provides.

Outside of his social engagement at SPSC–Truc enjoys staying physically active through regular swimming sessions at the gym. He also hosts a weekly Karaoke show which is streamed on YouTube.
