SPSC recently had the opportunity (twice!) to partner with the City of Seattle’s Civic Coffee as we hosted two important presentations for our Senior community.
For several years, Age Friendly Seattle has hosted monthly Civic Coffee events in partnership with The Seattle Public Library. These are opportunities for older adults to gather, meet local government and community leaders, learn about key issues, ask questions, and provide feedback; these events engage a hybrid participation with people also attending virtually, plus recordings are available for later use.
As the pandemic has diminished, Civic Coffee has been out, and accessible, in communities again. With their strong commitment to language access, and offering of interpretation in several languages, SPSC hosted one event interpreted in Spanish, and one event interpreted in Vietnamese. Our Seniors, as well as others from throughout the Seattle region, had the opportunity to learn more about the important aspects of End-of-Life Planning: establishing a will and estate planning (Civic Coffee Recap: End of Life Planning – AgeWise King CountyAgeWise King County), and Technology and Aging – highlighting digital equity and fair access.
You can visit the Age Friendly website (Virtual Events access page) to find information about upcoming Civic Coffee events and access previously-recorded presentations.
Thank you to Age Friendly Seattle, Civic Coffee, The Seattle Public Library, and the wonderful presenters who brought this important information to South Park! (Plus, some really delicious treats for everyone!)
